Practice Rides OffRoad 2025
We hold monthly social rides during March to September each year to meet others and hone your strength and skills. If you are not confident on your mountain bike, here is a perfect opportunity to practice with others. Bring a friend who wants to gain experience.
You do not have to be a registered rider to join us.
8 March 2025 – Heritage Trail Loop
An ideal introduction to riding with others who will be doing the 2025 Lifecycle for Canteen MTB Munda Biddi ride.
Meeting at the Mundaring Sculpture Park (just opposite from the Mundaring Hotel) at 3:30pm for a 4:00pm roll out, we will head down the South side trail towards Darlington and Bellevue before riding up the old rail line to Swan View and the North side trail to Mt. Helena. At Mt Helena, we will head up through Sawyer’s Valley and back to Mundaring.
The total length of ride is around 42 km and will take, depending upon your fitness and experience around 2-3 hours. There will be groups to ride with, so you will get to know the others.
Several riders will be having their evening meal at the Mundaring Hotel. Please let us know if you are interested.
22 March 2025 – John Forrest Mountain Bike Trails
A different ride to the Heritage Trail Loop, this will take in the John Forrest Nation Park Noolbenger MTB Trails.
Meeting at the Parkerville Tavern (car park opposite) at 3:30pm for a 4:00pm roll out, we will head down the Heritage Trail until we strike the trailhead for the Northern Side MTB track. This ride will see us traverse the ridges and valleys to the North of the Heritage trail and will come back out on the Heritage trail not far from the Swan View rail tunnel before crossing to do the Southern Side MTB track and heading back up to the Parkerville Tavern and a meal, if you are interested.
The ride is around 25km in length and has around 500m of climbing, good practice for parts of the Munda Biddi ride in May, but the views are worth it.
12 & 13 April 2025 – Yanchep
A 2-day adventure based at the Yanchep National Park, with camping if you are keen, but can also be done as single days.
Day 1 – Meeting at Yanchep Nation Park near the Yanchep Inn at 7:30am for an 8:00am roll out, we will ride around 30km along the Yaberoo Budjara Heritage Trail towards Joondalup and the Neil Hawkins Park, where we can stop to rest and have a coffee or two.
Those that are keen can turn around and ride back along the trail but if it sounds like too much, there is always the option of taking the train back to Yanchep (although you will need to ride from the station back to the National Park, approx. 6.5km along Yanchep Beach Drive).
Day 2 – Although the route is not yet finalised, Day 2 will have a 7:30am start for an 8:00am roll out, and will cover trails to the East and North of the National Park. The expected length of the ride will be around 40km. The following is a possible route, TBC.
For those camping/caravaning – DBCA has limited camping and caravan spots available on the Henry White Oval and bookings are essential. Twelve grass campsites on the former oval and nine campsites on the tarmac of a former car park that are suitable for campervans, camper trailers and campervans only. All campsites are unpowered.
